5 reasons Porsche will win at lemans in 2015

Porsche 919 Hybrid at Le Mans

As you likely already know, Porsche did not manage to get a victory at the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans. Their return to the top level of competition had them watch fellow Volkswagen Group owned Audi get their 13th overall Le Mans win.

Immediately after the race Porsche was already thinking about 2015 and here are the 5 reasons why we think they will win the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans.
  1. Leading in 2014: For a large portion of the final stages of the 2014 race, the Porsche 919 Hybrid was in the lead and it likely would have won had it not been for engine problems.
  2. Engineers: The main thing that prevented Porsche from winning or at least fighting to the very last lap was engine failure. You know that Porsche Engineers are already working on improvements to make this less likely to happen again.
  3. Experience: It has been 16 years since Porsche has competed at the top level at Le Mans, so for some involved this may have been their first experience at the endurance race. This would even include some of the drivers. While some had plenty of experience a few others, like Mark Webber, have never driven in this type of race and will get even better (not that they performance poorly to begin with).
  4. New Regulations: Next year will likely bring new regulation and Porsche has a history of being able to adapt to change. This could help as others may have more of a struggle meeting any new rules.
  5. Improvements: The Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 car was brand new for this season. As this year goes on the racing team will learn from the year and will further improve the car going into next season.
So, those are the reasons that we think Porsche will win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015, but what do you think? Let us know in the comments.
